The DoD, through the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), seeks commercially proven hardware and software solutions for both expeditionary and fixed waste disposal systems capable of generating usable power for the warfighter. The primary objective is to develop, qualify, and demonstrate a modular or family of systems capable of supporting a range of 15 to 500+ service members.
The preferred solution will be capable of generating usable energy, heat, and/or other useful end items and can be hardened to support multiple forms of waste to include:
- Hazardous Waste
- Medical Waste
- Tires
- Treated wood
- Asbestos
- Munitions and explosives
